Time & space to recharge

What you actually get on a Driftwood trip.

Why Driftwood Paddle

Two people standing in shallow river water next to kayaks, surrounded by trees and rocks under a partly cloudy sky.

The noise fades. The backlog of thoughts quiets. You start making decisions from a different place. Guests describe it as the reset they didn't know they needed.

A clear head by day three

Two women hiking by a river, one wearing a hat and carrying a backpack, the other with curly hair in a ponytail.

Shared challenges build trust faster than years of casual contact. Couples reconnect. Families remember each other. Strangers become the kind of friends you call in a crisis.

Relationships that go deeper

Person slicing a fresh orange on a dark tray, with orange wedges nearby.

Gear, food, route, safety & campsites are all handled. You show up at base camp with your bag and we take care of everything from that moment forward. The whole point is that you stop managing things.

Zero logistics. Zero stress.

Two men wearing headlamps and outdoor gear sitting near a campfire at night.

No light pollution. Stars you've never seen from a city. Fire conversations that go somewhere real. The kind of sleep you forgot was possible. Guests call it the most rested they've felt in years.

Nights you actually remember

While other adventure companies focus on the destination, we focus on the transformation

Beneath the surface

At Driftwood, the canoe trip is just the beginning. What we really offer is space to unplug, to slow down, and to feel alive again.

By guiding you into the wilderness, we guide you back to yourself and your people. Around the fire, on the lake, under the stars — something shifts. You remember who you are without the noise.

This isn't just a change of scenery. It's a change of reality.

💬 Conversations flow naturally without screens interrupting

Suddenly, you're hearing stories you've never heard before.

🤝 Shared challenges build trust and teamwork

Watching your children beam with pride as they help pitch tents and tend to the fire.

🌿 Natural rhythms replace constant notifications

Rediscovering the peace of sunset conversations that don't get cut short.

Common questions

Everything you want to know before booking.

  • None at all. Most of our guests have never sat in a canoe before their first Driftwood trip. Your guide provides all instruction on day one — forward stroke, turning, reading water, setting up camp. You'll be comfortable and capable within a few hours. No experience necessary for any of our trips.

  • Everything except your personal clothing and toiletries. We provide canoes, paddles, and life jackets; tents, tarps, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags; all meals with a menu tailored to your dietary needs, a water purifying system, and all cooking equipment. Safety gear includes an emergency communication device, compass, and a fully stocked first aid kit. All guides are WFR certified and National Lifeguards. We'll email you a packing list after booking.

  • Our base camp is located on Kawawaymog Lake at Access Point #1, in the north-west corner of Algonquin Park, Ontario. Trips depart and return here. It's approximately 3.5 hours north of Toronto.

  • Start with a free exploration call — 30 minutes with our adventure specialists. We'll cover trip hopes, group dynamic, timing, and answer every question. A 30% non-refundable deposit then secures your dates, with the balance due 90 days before departure.

  • Yes — our private family trips are specifically designed around your youngest paddler. Routes, distances, and difficulty are all tailored to your family's ages and abilities. Kids 8+ are welcome. Every guide is a certified National Lifeguard with properly fitted PFDs for all ages.

  • Algonquin Park is one of the best places in Ontario to spot moose, beaver, loon, osprey, deer, and occasionally black bear from a safe distance on the water. Sunrise paddles are especially good for moose sightings — we build these into many of our trips.
