Owned and operated by the Kelly Brothers, Driftwood Paddle is your expert guide to Algonquin Park, leading you on authentic journeys through unseen picturesque locations.
Being worldly travelers, between them visiting over 50 countries, they’ve experienced many diverse places and people. As a result, the Kelly brothers see life a little differently.
When asked about their favourite place, they find it challenging to choose just one. But rather, their favourite feeling always came from immersing themselves in a stranger's life, exploring their country through a local lens. They never remained strangers for long, and many have become lifelong friends.
“We do this because this is what we love.”
It was friends that encouraged the ‘Backcountry Brothers’ to set off on their own, to stop guiding part-time for other companies and to take a leap - starting their own family business and rooting themselves in Canada, calling Algonquin their full time home.
“If we went out on our own, we could do it our way - our pace, with our values: integrity, adventure, connection, and community. We could take people to places they’ve never been before - we could be the locals giving others that feeling.”
Their deep-rooted love for the area goes back to their early years, spending significant time on their parent’s property on Kawawaymog Lake. Over the years the boys explored, listened, and discovered many beautiful secrets which have only made them hunger for more. They believe Algonquin has enough space for adventurous hearts and that making campers of people through experiencing a true Canadian adventure is their life's purpose.
They live for exploring, learning, and sharing their findings with good people. They are open-minded and excited to dream up custom canoe trips that exceed expectations. Variety is important in regards to trip styles, clientele, and the wholesome food cooked up. When exploring Algonquin Park - every trip is unique, which is why they spend their off-time exploring it for themselves, increasing their experience and discovering more hidden gems.
